Where is Ciamis?

Ciamis Regency is a regency in West Java Province, Indonesia. The capital city is Ciamis City. This regency is in the southeastern part of West Java, bordering Majalengka Regency and Kuningan Regency in the north, Cilacap Regency (Central Java) and Banjar City in the east, Pangandaran Regency in the south, and Tasikmalaya City and Tasikmalaya Regency in the west.

Culture In Ciamis

Nyangku.

Nyangku ceremony which is a cultural custom in Panjalu sub-district of ciamis district is an activity that is always held once a year on Monday or Thursday at the end of Mulud (Rabiul Awal) by Panjalu residents. In fact, many people who come from out of town deliberately come to follow this procession, the Customary Ceremony (nyangku) itself is a series of ceremonies for the purification of heirlooms from Sanghiyang Borosngora and the Kings and Regents of Panjalu, the successors are essentially cleansing the heirlooms. which is owned by the Kingdom of Panjalu.

Kuta House.

Kuta Village Tambaksari Ciamis is a traditional hamlet that still holds the ancestral culture. This community is located in Karangpaninggal Village, Tambaksari District, about 60 Km from Ciamis City to the east.Kuta Village consists of 2 RWs and 4 RTs. This village is bordered by Cibodas Hamlet in the north, Margamulya Hamlet in the west, and in the south and east by the Cijulang River, which at the same time is the border of the West Java region with Central Java.

Galendo.

Galendo is a typical food from West Java, especially in the Ciamis Regency. although the existence of galendo is in a number of areas in East Priangan but this special food is more famous in ciamis district. This Ciamis specialty food is usually served for snacks or desserts, this food is made from cooked coconut dregs. Galendo can now be found in stores by people located in East Priangan, and at this time galendo is very varied from the sense of form and price.

Ronggeng Gunung.

Ronggeng Gunung is a dance that grows and develops in the South Ciamis and Pangandaran areas, such as Panyutran, Ciparakan, Banjarsari, Burujul, Pangandaran and Cijulang areas. In general, this art is almost the same as ronggeng in general. Ie characterized by the appearance of one or more dancers who are equipped with gamelan and chanting or accompanist. The main dancer is a woman who is equipped with a scarf that functions as a completeness in dancing. This shawl is also used to invite the opponent (male) to dance together by draping around his neck.
